ANCHORMAN - THE LEGEND OF RON BURGUNDY

ANCHORMAN - THE LEGEND OF RON BURGUNDY

UIP

RELEASED 10 September 2004

anchorman‘Anchorman’ sees Will Ferrell (‘Elf,’ ‘Old School’) play fictional 70’s TV newsreader Ron Burgundy.

Ron and his chauvinist colleagues are party animals, revelling in their celebrity as San Diego’s number one news team. When feminism marches into the newsroom in the form of ambitious newswoman Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate), they realise she won’t be content to cover cat fashion shows for long. She’s got her eye on the top job. And Ron’s got his eye on her, both professionally and personally.

‘Anchorman’ is a laugh from start to finish, and Ferrell has crafted the most memorable character since Austin Powers. His team of sexist pigs play the misguided fools wonderfully, and Christina Applegate slinks her way into their ‘boys club’ beautifully.

If you like smart, ironic humour laced with stupidity such as a ridiculous fight between all the local news teams wielding increasingly deadly weaponary (watch for those cameos!), you’ll love ‘Anchorman’. Where else would you discover San Diego actually translates as ‘Whales’ Vagina’?
