ANYWHERE BUT HERE
TWENTIETH CENTURY FOX
RELEASED 3 December 1999
Impulsive Adele August (Susan Sarandon) decides it’s time to leave her small town behind and try her luck in Beverly Hills. Daughter Ann (Natalie Portman) is reluctantly dragged along, unable to accept her mum’s reasoning that she’s being introduced to an exciting new world. The relationship has it’s ups and downs and when university beckons, Adele must let her daughter go. The combination of actresses is dynamite, Sarandon displaying strength and vunerability, Portman showing intelligence. It’s never too heavy-going with plenty of light-hearted moments in an enjoyable film.
