It’s 1971 and chip shop owner George Khan is trying to raise his seven children into traditional Pakistanis but this is the North of England and the kids aren’t interested in religion and arranged marriages. George gets little help from his English wife Ella who is caught in the middle. This is an amusing tale of different cultures attempting to live together in trying circumstances. The comedy eventually gives way to the darker side of the story where emotions are let loose and hard decisions have to be made in a family which is breaking apart.
