EYE 2, THE

THE EYE 2

RELEASED 13 May 2005

eye2Something of a minor cult hit, ‘The Eye’ was the tale of a young woman who has full cornea transplants, which led her to seeing strange apparitions. It was an interesting horror movie that had potential, but didn’t fully exploit the grisly subject matter.

‘The Eye 2’ has nothing to do with the original, using neither the same characters or the cornea transplants. Set in Bangkok, Joey Cheng (Shu Qi) has just had her boyfriend Sam (“Tik” Jesdaporn Pholdee) leave her. Distraught, she tries to kill herself. Saved by the doctors, and moving to Hong Kong, she discovers she’s pregnant. It isn’t long before Joey begins to see frightening phantoms, which seem to have an interest in her unborn baby.

‘Seeing dead people’ has been done, and apart from a few neat touches, this is a unlikely to find much of an audience beyond the hardcore horror fraternity.
