GARFIELD

GARFIELD

FOX

RELEASED 30 July 2004

garfieldI’m going to get this one over with quickly. Fat, lazy cat Garfield (voiced with mild witticisms and ad-libs by Bill Murray) is created via the magic of the computer in this live-action comedy. Under the influence of the beautiful veterinarian Liz (Jennifer Love Hewitt), Garfield's owner Jon (Breckin Meyer) stuns him by bringing home a cuddly dog, Odie. Jealous at the attention Odie is receiving, Garfield locks Odie out of the house. Odie runs away and when he's kidnapped by an evil television personality, Garfield realizes his mistake, and embarks on a brave mission to rescue his new housemate.

Things I noticed: Garfield has no bumhole; Steve from ‘Sex and the City’ voices one of the other cats; Bill Murray sings TWO songs as Garfield; and I got very tired and irritable.

On the plus side, ‘Garfield’ is snappily edited, the jokes and sight gags are pretty weak but they do come thick and fast, and if you’re under five years old, you’ll have a lot of fun. If you’re an acoompanying adult, you may find yourself checking your watch. Personally, I think Garfield might be on the ‘Catkins’ diet - he stinks!
