NEXT FRIDAY
ENTERTAINMENT FILM
RELEASED 10 March 2000
A sequel to the little-known comedy ‘Friday’, Ice Cube reprises his role as Craig, still living with his parents in South Central LA. The local bully Craig beat four years ago has escaped from jail so Craig’s worried father sends him to stay with his uncle and cousin in the suburbs. What follows is a slapstick procession of crap jokes (literally), dope jokes, a crazy ex-girlfriend and a stereotypical Latino gang as the bad guys. ‘Next Friday’ has the feel of a 90’s Benny Hill, crass humour which is tired and well past it’s sell-by-date. I like ‘stupid humour’ but this has no originality or imagination. A waste of time.
